With this post I’d like to update everyone on the current situation at the building.
As of October 2023 the building is still closed and not open to the public. It has been in this state ever since the closure of Olympia Pop Up Outlet. As you might have seen from the gallery, all entrances have a brick wall in front of them, while all windows on the ground floor level were boarded up with wood panels in front of them. There seems to be no way to access the building, that indicates that the owner (whoever he may be…) is taking some care and ensuring the building remains in good condition, at least on the inside. The outside is in genereally in decent condition, there is hardly any spray paint on the walls expect the temporary brick walls and wood panels.
The grand entrance to the shop is now mostly being used by people to park their car and to just sit down and have a drink.
The parking garage is still easily accessible. Only the entrance for cars was blocked with a fence. Because of that many people have taken down light fixtures and cable installations in order to get to the copper in there with the goal of selling that and making some money of that. There are regularly people sleeping in and walking through the garage. Usually it is filled with trash (both from pedestrians who dispose it there and cable-cutters wo leave their trash there) but it also gets cleaned up by a cleaning crew, as you can see in the gallery.
There seems to be power, as there are some light fixtures on the first floors staircase, that are on every evening and can be seen on the left side of the building, when viewed from the front. There seems to be no activity from inside the building, nor are there any public announcments existant.
Judging from the efforts invested in preventing people from entering the building, it is safe to assume, that the aim is to preserve the building, possibly in order to reopen at some point. However that is just a theory, as I have tried many different ways of getting in touch with the owner and have failed in trying to do so.
